Alan Coggins learned violin making and repairing with Adele Beardsmore and has worked in partnership with her since 1993. He now combines work as a violin maker with his interests in writing and violin photography, and has been a regular contributor to The Strad magazine for many years. Alan has recently published a book, Violin and Bow Makers of Australia, which provides a comprehensive account of violin making in Australia from the early days of settlement through to the present day.
